Its always sad in these times when we hear of people out of work. In this case, Lum posted the news on his blog - http://brokentoys.org/2009/10/26/hi-recession/
Of course like all MMO players, this means he will file for unemployment, and crank out a 12 month subscription card to his favorite MMO’s, or go trolling the venues of all of the free games out there to check them out. All while looking for work.
My vote is in support of the entire team in Austin finding work quickly. Best wishes

Anyone want some copies of EQ2 and its expansions? Still sealed in the boxes, I hate to just throw the stuff away. Only cost you to PAYPAL Anna $5 or more for her Give Kids The World charity. Make it $20 or more and I’ll give you an EQ2 t-shirt in cool black. Just be sure to include the shipping name and address, send the donation today or tomorrow, and be in the US.
Cheers

I have a freighter pilot on a seperate account (yep a buddy account). He was made to fill a need for a Jump Freighter pilot and nothing else. As soon as he started training, he switched to a Hulk to he could sit and mine all day for me on my second screen while I am working or gaming. He mas managed to pull in a ton of Veldspar day after day and more then pay for his skill books and feed my capital construction never ending demand for Tritanium.*
*Not that a capital ship builder could ever have too many minerals on hand
So now he is a hulk pilot, can fly the Charon adn Rhea, and has Jump V/IV/IV. And like all my toons, he has 4 R&D agents. I ran a lot of missions, and had him in the group, sharing the spilt at turn in. A few L3 and L4’s later and he makes passive R&D datacore income everyday. Not a ton, but it like everything else in EVE Online adds up over time.
What next?
Carrier to add to the hauling versitility and be an asset during mining ops by throwing out fighter support instead of mining?
Or take one of the two other char slots and start training up another pilot, be it Hulk, ice miner, or Freighter or Jump Freighter pilot to sell on the market?
I have ruled out some things like JF to 5, or Jump skills to V/V/V unless I get a really compelling reason to do so. Its not out of the picture, just not something Im leaping to do.

I decided to offer up some investment spots on my next project in EVE Online. Now unlike the typical forum whores, dick heads, faggots and losers who hide in video games, I have always been pretty visible on who I am. Why? Well lets start with my running gaming communities, working on or publishing my own strategy guides. Talking to people in game. Gaming with friends and co-workers.
All of that creates visibility.
Then you have the children of the Internet who hide. I have no time for them.
Then you have the hildren of the Internet who think that a video game is real life or even bigger. They try and make themselves virtual princes and queens. I laugh at them and shake my head.
Like their games today trying to side rail a thread for the investment. Simple statement of terms: it lets people know its for 200M minimum investment, 2B total buy in. Enough to keep out the crowds and make sure it finds people serious. Want more details - it says “Serious inquiries contact me in game”
The children, immature, and just plain forum whores can’t walk away. They cry, then rant, they have to post. It just gnaws at them to do anything other then be adults, see if it doesn’t apply to them, and silently walk away. They can’t do it. They have to get in their two cents. And when every forum whore post gets responded, they cry again. They can’t be happy unless their ego writes the last word. Its a virtaul game of hands for these little girls.
I feel sad for them, that in this day and economy, they are gaming at work. Do their families mean so little to them that they surf EVE Online forums and post from work all day?
Back to the investment. If you are in EVE Online, got 200M ISK and want to put it to work, contact me. For details.

Subject: Request Compensation
2009.01.20 13:55
At 2009/01/19.0400 EVE time Trevor Akari and Kardea ganked me while undocking in Horkkisen in route to Kamio. My corp officers directed me to seek compensation since this is a direct violation of rule #1 of your charter. I respectfully request compensation for the replacement of the following:
Iteron IV 595,000
Microwarp Drive I 22,000
Ship Scanner I 1,300
Suppressed Targeting System I 5,000
Phased Muon Sensor Disruptor I 4,500,000
Expanded CargoHold II (x3) 2,427,000
Clone replacement 450,000
Total Compensation requested —- 5,000,300 ISK
I hope that this minor incident by your employee is soon forgotton and has no impact on the future cooperation of our two alliances. Best wishes for your success.
Strange, we are not in an alliance, and one of the two people is not in my corporation. But regardless that major oversight, my response is short and to the point -
——————–
2009.01.20 14:35
Kardea is not in our corporation or alliance
He doesn’t seem to understand, so he responds with -
Re: Re: Request Compensation
2009.01.21 00:25
True, but Trevor Akari is in your corporataion. I strongly encourage you to pay for your employee’s trangression against me and handle the affair internally. I really want to handle this at the lowest possible level and not draw other parties into to it. Your corporatation and alliance have a good reputation. Let’s work together to keep it that way. Thank you for your help, time, and consideration.
Respectfully,
Ed

Kardea is not in our corporation or alliance
So I pop over to their public chat channel to let an officer know that we don’t consider people being attacked in 0.0 or low sec to be worthy of a rant, especially when we have no relations with your corporation or alliance. They agree. This evemail followed to the podpilot -
——————–
2009.01.21 00:30
I already spoke to one of your officers about it and they agreed this is your fault
He can’t seem to let it rest -
2009.01.21 00:33
Who did you speak with? The deputy CEO Tasha Diabolique directed me to seek compensaton.
Ed
Now Tasha, did you really send this young one to our doors with their hands out expecting something? Or did you to this as a training exercise for the young one to make them be more careful of their environment?
This gets me back into their public chat channel where someone else asks where in the 0.4 system this pilot is so they can go pod them again for being so stupid. We all laugh, we all cry, good times, good times.
And then this funny joke arrives -
Podded again / request for compensation
2009.01.21 00:42
I emailed Irish Blend, the ceo of Trevor Akari of the two pilots that podded me last night. The other guy, Kardea, is in a PvP corp with a 30M bounty and -9 Security rating so no joy there. Irish Blend replied that an officer in the corp agreed with her that this was my fault. I replied that the Deputy CEO Tasha Diabolique directed me to seek compensation (5Misk for ship, modules, and clone). Since Ms. Blend has denied any liability on her employee or corporation’s part, I respectfully request corp ticker 10045 set to a negative/hostile rating and a shoot on site order placed on Trevor Akari and Kardea. Best wishes for your safe operations and continued success.
Very Respectfully,

I could only laugh and sent this note back to Ed -
I will contact your alliance diplo and see if they are going to engage us in a wardec or boot your corporation or you from the alliance.
Trevor is not part of the 10045th - I suggest you contact his new CEO and ask them if they will reimburse you for your loss in 0.4 space. Thank you for the interesting rant, I will copy it to my blog for others to enjoy as much as I have.

This is another horrible aspect of Jita - buying a high value item there and having to fear a ganker scanning your cargo hold just for the grief kill. Inis ce,h em ws too larg to ins a secured cotain
And that right there is the sentence I was typing during the lag trying to get out of Jita. Why they don’t do what Asheon’s Call did to the market in some city I forget the name - the one south down the road from the small village where I hung out for some time. Hmm, where is a map of Azertoh?
Anyway, the city was a market and the game could not handle the lag so they blew it up. Of course everyone moved inside of the Subway and it became the lag beast zone. But from a server stand point they moved people into a specific instace. When they started doing stacked instances they created multiple subways to fight the lag.
Every MMO wants a ton of players, and with that comes players doing commerce together. Why does Jita have such huge lag? Because of the traffic. Why are the city owners of Jita not imposing higher fees to jump into or out of Jita? This will help disperse the problem and make them more money. It is a coin sink begging to help solve the problem.
And server as a warning to the players that if one market becomes way too popular, people will be taxed with gate fees.
How many people are in Jita? How many jump in each day? Set a variabe tax each day based on the prior days activities - if there are 500 people in system, tax them a daily rental fee. If nothing else, get the freaking griefers out of Jita by charging them an hourly rate to stand there and suck of space.

We started a research corporation in EVE Online. First, make the character week or so in advance. By making a research alt you get all of the skills to do research but none of the skills to haul the tower or its fuel, and none of the skills to anchor it. For that matter you start with none of the skills to ma
ke the corporation for your research alts.
As soon as corp standings get updated I will be dropping a POS. Caldari or faction, medium or lagre - still up in the air. Faction saves on fuels but is way more expensive then the fule sfor months…many months. People who say “Get a faction POS its cheaper to operate” are obviously not people who do the math themsleves. Beware advice form forum trolls. Ask Have you dont this? Have you run the numbers/ How much are YOU saving each month? Whewre is YOUR faction POS?
There are a lot of bull shitters on eve for evil or for fun, and on the other end lots of good hearted people who just toss out what someone else told them. Do the numbers yourself.

This conversation was this morning, after we have moved out and on, in Immensea. The CEO of Solar Flare Assembly contacted me on our public chat channel to see if we would give him our POS password so he could get some cans from our space.
Why he was flying around our POS is interesting. Is it because he knew we wouldn’t fire on our old alliance mates? Is it because he knew we might be moving out and want to lend a hand. Or is it because we are the next target in the downfall of Lando and the Soldiers of the Forgotten Abyss (SFA) Alliance. They cannot take out Chaos and Tank ‘N’ Spank, so rather than focus on just one enemy, they focus on the next one in line. Talk about a total and utter lack of dedication.
In the chat log, you can see where he is crying that I caused all the harm t their alliance because although someone else apparently removed all of the fuels from their POS’s, according to rumors, and then at the same time a mysterious fleet of ships from the group that comes through every day ANYWAY, appeared and messed them up.
Now might this have anything to do with the SFA getting SOV 3, even for a day?
Might this have been called in by the person who took their fuels?
Might this be the fault of -A-, and the SFA should declare war on them?
Irish Blend > when you decide to leave, make sure you do it then tell him
Irish Blend > because if you bring it up first you will be an enemy yourself
Irish Blend > hey congrats BTW
Irish Blend > I heard that all of those markers that Admiral Tintin has been talking about for weeks got called in like he said on Monday would happen and a huge battle fleet of dreads and capitals would sweep in and blow Chaos out of your space
,,,,,,
Irish Blend > we are moving out
Irish Blend > we were moving out on 2/1 as planned in December due to goals not being met
Irish Blend > the fuel in the pos was set to the closest day to force that decision once we made it
Vincent Jarjadian > where’s your tower heading?
Vincent Jarjadian > once it’s down
Irish Blend > no idea
Irish Blend > not to a UNL station
Irish Blend > and unless I arrange a friend to find a friend that’s a hauler and do a jet can drop somewhere up the pipe, not likely anywhere
Irish Blend > but that’s how you show others corps how you let people leave
Irish Blend > You know yourself, how you let people leave shows how you are to the ones staying
Irish Blend > even with CHAOS I wanted their stuff taking down…..they could move it at anytime, but it had to come down
Irish Blend > we have been taking it down
Vincent Jarjadian > and Irish, you think giving away intel and badmouthing us will look good to new alliances?
Irish Blend > when did that start to happen?
Irish Blend > after Sunday
Vincent Jarjadian > in your forum post
Irish Blend > we had already been moving out
Irish Blend > yes it started after Sunday
Vincent Jarjadian > you made a post with capital ship movement intel on it
Irish Blend > no
Irish Blend > have you read my post?
Vincent Jarjadian > what alliance will want someone who will give away their intel
Vincent Jarjadian > yes
Irish Blend > nowhere does capital ships even occur
Vincent Jarjadian > it says cynos
Vincent Jarjadian > what else you moving with cynos?
Vincent Jarjadian > frigates don’t have jump drives…..
Irish Blend > your confusing intel with what everyone around us know
Vincent Jarjadian > you gave away intel that you were moving out, and AAA came and took a look. they got an easy kill. you tell EVE were laying cynos and they look for them
Irish Blend > go looking for a new alliance now and at the start of the convo have people say “your in the group that is losing carriers and industrial ships, aren’t you?”
Irish Blend > whoa mister
Irish Blend > do you think for even a second
Irish Blend > that -a- came into that space for the first time ever because of me?
Irish Blend > if you do then you haven’t been done there enough
Vincent Jarjadian > no, but because of your post they came in force that day
Irish Blend > -a- has free range of all of those systems hours before and after downtime
Vincent Jarjadian > and killed a JF that should have been in a POS
Irish Blend > so -a- works for me?
Vincent Jarjadian > no, but you gave them that intel
Irish Blend > what intel?
Vincent Jarjadian > that you would be moving out
Irish Blend > they know everything going on
Irish Blend > so does unl, un , cva, ssi, and people on the other end of space
Irish Blend > I’ve been trying to recruit people and corps…the corps have flown all through our space in covert op ships never touched
Vincent Jarjadian > well… then it was pure luck the only time they bring a 40 man gang to our door is after that post, and only pure luck and stupidity that a jump freighter was killed
Irish Blend > and pure luck someone emptied all your fuels?
Irish Blend > no sir
Irish Blend > it had nothing to do with Admiral Tintin calling in markers for a Monday dread capital invasion to defend your own space for you
Vincent Jarjadian > no, you gave them the intel that you were moving, and gave them intel about capital ship movement. cbop got the infiltrator to remove the fuels
Irish Blend > do you even consider that if he did contact people, which for a moment I don’t think he ever did, that begging others to come in force to defend that space for you attracted attention?
Irish Blend > your smarter than that Vincent
Irish Blend > step back and put stuff in a timeline
Irish Blend > you know what is going on around you
Vincent Jarjadian > if you don’t understand that you gave intel away, then I feel sorry for you. you should be smarter than that
Vincent Jarjadian > I am thinking
Vincent Jarjadian > you gave away intel on the forums, it is there for all EVE to see
Irish Blend > here how about this doosie
Irish Blend > did you read my last post on that thread?>
Irish Blend > the guy calling in DOOM
Vincent Jarjadian > yes, that’s the one mentioning a chain of cynos
Irish Blend > who was he calling in doom on? You?
Irish Blend > that’s your own guys
Vincent Jarjadian > indeed
Irish Blend > I made that post the following day after you were attacked
Vincent Jarjadian > our guys moving our capital ships
Vincent Jarjadian > or our friends
Irish Blend > and that’s exactly it
Irish Blend > when did they show up?
Irish Blend > how many were there?
Irish Blend > and in what local where you and every other CEO in at the time?
Vincent Jarjadian > I hope they aborted because you gave the fact they were moving away….
Irish Blend > Because that chat was said in local
Irish Blend > they aborted?
Irish Blend > they didn’t exist
Irish Blend > how can you abort when I post something the next day
Vincent Jarjadian > try and have a nice day, I hope your members don’t suffer from your actions.
Irish Blend > Posted - 2009.01.06 14:12:00
Irish Blend > and that is what happens when you buy into your own propaganda
I wonder why Vincent doesn’t use this - here I put this together to save them the time since they are all so busy putting on battle gear. When this actually happens, please let me know -
To all who read this notice,
SFA was invaded in its sovereign space recently by a marauding gang from the -A- Alliance. With no current standing diplomatic relations with -A-, and -A- continued incursions on a daily basis into SFA space, during which gangs of 1 to 6 -A- member pilots have caused losses of combat and industrial ships, SFA has no choice but to declare war on -A-
The SFA will be mobilizing its OWN forces of capital ships, dreads, titans and carriers to begin the systematic destruction of -A-
Until such time as an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth justice has been enacted, an offers of cessation of hostilities will be rejected
SFA Leadership
——————————–
We all know that won’t happen for many reasons
**SFA has no fighting force of its own
**SFA has a blowhard in the leadership ranks Admiral TinTin that gets spouting he is going to call in markers. When will that call actually go through? Did they move and not give you the forwarding number? Do you just keep getting voice mail?
**Admiral TinTin on Saturday evening / Sunday morning said “I have markers I have called in and a fleet will be here on Monday to wipe them out of our space” - If this statement was relied upon by the SFA and it did not happen, he should be resign immediately for failure to deliver. Unless he isn’t a man of his words, in which case he should be booted out of any leadership roles.
**SFA had a member leave the alliance and rather than demand stuff come down, and help them leave the space peacefully, they waited. And waiting turned to a neighbor in their own space. And they have yet to remove CHAOS and Tank ‘N’ Spank from their space. Why not?
**SFA is dying, member corps have left, member corps have left 0.0 space and abandoned this exercise, and member corps are still in the alliance telling others they are waiting for it to die
Lando, now is the time for you to remove all of your alt corps to ensure a real vote. Call a meeting of the CEO’s at your POS in 0.0, and only those CEO’s present get to vote. Ask them if you can honestly do this or not. And if they say yes ask them for numbers THEY can bring from their own corps. And then ask them when those resources can be there in front of you. And then and only then do you count them.
You will see that the count is very, very low, and it’s time for you to turn the alliance over to someone else and follow in their footsteps or just get out.

Its funny when a virtual world has people playing in a safer Area A try and make comments and suggestions on people playing in a more dangerous Area B. The net result of this was my calling on a vote of no confidence of our little groups #2 or #3 Area A paper pusher. Industry Queen who runs a small group called Sentinels of Justice, 9 members with a 10% tax rate.
He apparently is one of those types of players afraid to come dwont o Area B, but likes to comment on it. Tha doesn’t make for a good leadership. And it doesn’t make common sense in any virtual world, or in the real world. If you are an expert on Education, you don’t comment on environmental issues in an official capacity. You have an opinion, you explore, you gather, you learn, But when an enironmental activity is going on, you stay in your own space.

I have sent this message to the SFA alliance CEO mailing list, asking for some form of sanity to the communications problems. Currently the SFA alliance has more forms of communication then active human beings. It is absurd and has to end right away to help us figure out who is actually here and what they are doing.
2009.01.02 17:12
This mailing list is a joke
Look at the messages in it right now - 10 of them
And we have people discussing, giving directions and making mandates on the alliance in alliance evemail for the entire alliance.
This needs to stop. The chat channels are out of control in teamspeak, in game chat and in game mailing lists
Why are these not being made smaller with less options clearly defined?
And lastly, my corporation has a CEO and Directors - it does not need non emergency emails going out from anyone telling them what they must do right now. It pisses people off in the corp who don’t partiicpate in the 0.0 Immensea aspect of things.
Someone needs to take this communication beast and trim in down big time right away, and set better definitions on what can be said on the different channels -
EVERYONE Can see ALLIANCE - so nothing should be said on it, accept for free for all garbage. Its not secure, its not pretty and it makes everyone look bad
