Never saw this show before, which really limited my ability to ask latest questions to Ron Glass. Thanks to Hulu and my having caught up to speed with Battlestar Galactica, I started to watch this series today.

In this original pilot episode, the crew transports passengers to another planet to sell salvaged goods only to discover that an undercover Alliance agent is on board the Serenity. The crew seems to be prisioners of war in a losing battle, turned into scab salvagers in some old junker ship. As huge as space is, why would an Alliance cruiser just happen to fly by as they are working on a derilict?

The music is very country and western, along with the use of standard cartridge weapons. Nothing space laser ific in this show. In fact, the ships are the only thing space sci-fi about it.
