Phonebooks
Checking my phone bill online, I saw this button on the Verizon website. If you have any clue about the environment, pollution, waste, trash costs or being even remotelly green, this little graphic should make you sick to your stomach and tax paying wallet.
Once again, the local phone companies are prepared to throw shit on millions of lawns so they can be picked up and throw in millions of trash cans to get hauled away to land fills. The local delivery phone book has to stop. Make people pay for it, even just $1. And see how many people don’t want the stupid yellow pages, white pages, green pages or blue pages. Just charge $1.00 Heck, just charge $0.01, but make them agree to it in advance. That is all it will take to cut these piles of waste by huge numbers.
Clicking the link led me to a contact form at directorystore.com where I left this small note -
Hello,
You have information on how to get delivery. But even more important - can you direct me how to stop delivery?
The local phone book is a huge environmental waste. How do we make sure we don’t have anyone throwing these huge bags of crap on our lawn once again this year?
If I could call the cops and the assholes arrested for throwing this shit on my lawn, I would love to do so.
If people wanted the phone book, let them call in and ask for it ahead of time. Instead, some 100 year old ass backwards marketing department throws this shit on everyones yard just to say they have a large circulation.
