A moment of silence for this moment in history

Today, we take a moment of silence to remember the dropping of the atomic bomb “Little Boy” on the Japan city of Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945. Today, after all these years, with so few survivors left, it is still a grime reminder of the power of weapons. And the awesome destruction man can inflict upon man.
Why did we drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima? After days of bombing, Japan refused to recognize the order for surrender. The US expenditure on the Manhattan Project was considerable, and the President of the United States signed an order to use the bomb as a last measure to force Japan to surrender. While there are a few who bring up stupid reasons, such as threats by the US Congress on overspending, and fears of USSR spreading into the Pacific, the reasons are pretty clear to everyone but a few conspiracy nuts. We started spending the money on research, Japan had a deadline, and they missed it. We were bombing the mainland daily, and had a huge blockade of their much needed resources. But still they held on.
And then we sent in three planes. They called an air raid. And then cancelled the warning, since they did not have the resources to go after small groups. And the bomb fell. And still they did not surrender. So we get to have another moment of silence on the 9th of August.
HBO had a special on about the bombs tonight. Why don’t the bleeding heart liberals at HBO get this special in all the Arab nation dialects and get it played around the clock on Al Jazeera? Of course in the special they show one of the crew saying “People say we should drop a bomb on Iraq. I tell them they only say that because they have never seen an atomic bomb being dropped.” And thats why they should air it on Al Jazeera, and not on HBO in the US of A.
