Drizzt and the band continue their adventure to safe Regis in The Halfling’s Gem: The Legend of Drizzt, Book VI. Another outstanding book in the epic world of TSR’s Forgotten Realms, author R.A. Salvatore winds a story with a number of seperate threads that entertwin into a wonderful tapestry.

“A day and more we have lost,” the barbarian grumbled, reining in his horse and looking back over his shoulder…” Such love and gruff tones show the depth of the characters. You hear the grumbling and know after all these pages and years together it is of frustration, grief and love. How funny that after just a few short days, I have gotten caught up in this deep world of adventure.

And not to be stuck in the Underdark and above ground, we adventure on the open seas with Captain Deudermont and the Sea Sprite. And inner city crime and dangers from Regis’ old boss Pasha Pook drives a struggle between the dark elf and a human assassin. Still this struggle continues because of Regis’ actions. The ruby pendant we have seen before becomes the source of this adventure as the prior owner wants the ruby and the thief back in his clutches.

Regis has fallen into the hands of the assassin Artmis Entreri, who is taking him to Calimport to deliver him into the clutches of the vile Pasha Pook. But Drizzt and Wulfgar are close on their heels, determined to save Regis from his own folly as much as from his powerful enemies.
