Streams of Silver The Legend of Drizzt Book V review
Drizzt and his companians continue their adventures in Streams of Silver. In part 2 of The Icewind Dale Trilogy we continue the adventures as the band of companians goes to reclaim the dwarven Mithral Hall. Since I am new to these books and the epic tale that is the Forgotten Realms world, I think of this as The Legend of Drizzt, Book V. Apparently the series is old and has been republished in several collections over the years. The author, R.A. Salvatore, continues to do wonders in the world of adventure set in the realms of TSR’s gaming world.
A year ago, the bookseller at the Millwaukee Airport - MKE - told me that a great series can be picked up at any point. I started this series with book 7, then immediatly flew home and bought all the other books. He was right.
From adventures with drow elves and the battle to reclaim ancient halls from gray dwarves, the story never ceases to enthral and hold me captive. Characters that are light contue to develop just as they do in real life. No wasted chapters on trivial background. The plot develops as do the people through their deeds, thoughts, and actions. And action is throughout from a powerful ruby pendant to the dark elf Drizzt and his unmistakable lavender eyes. As if the only dark elf on the surface needed another calling card trait.
The battle for Mithral Hall is aided by Drizzt Do’Urden as he helps his newly found friends from Icewind Dale, Clan Battlehammer. The clan leader, Bruenor Battlehammer, leads the adventuring band now called the Companions of the Hall, from the Spine of the World and Ten Towns out to adventure.
Things happen in each book that grow or evolve in the next. It is hard to describe these since I am reading them all years later and in such fast ace. Even as I write this, I am books ahead and now all of the plot twists that started or continued here in book V forward. Better to just say it is worth the time reading.
