No rest for the exhausted this morning. With only a few hours sleep, I am up and out the door for my first event, the ITAP pre-event. Registration started at 08:30 AM with the Arrival & Tea/Coffee at the Fairmont Hotel - Downtown Seattle. The first three sessions included discussions from Alistair and Rick. The biggest lesson learned here was where the leadership for the service line is thinking and what they are working on for the past 6 months and for the rest of this fiscal year. As a 10 year ESC, now ITAP Advisor, I am deeply interested in where we go with offerings and content delivery improvements.

Biggest take away - and the first question asked today - Why is it not a role in Headtrax? And this was the question asked a few more times and during the morning breaks. The audience today has clearly been doing this for years. Everyone I spoke to had 5+ years of experience in the role. And we all know that it is a role we fill on an engagement. If we hit the bench, we are to quote one question asked

we are just a Swiss army knife for the next engagement

And we all know it. Until this changes, each of us has to keep our technical skills as sharp as our peers along with our ITAP talents. That we are able to do it is a tribute to the quality of people we hire and retain. Will it ever change? I would love to see it, but don’t count on it.
