An ad showed up for a new album coming out by Leona Lewis. The image is very well done. The website she has is done in a glassy gold and brown tones. She has a sexy look.

Who is she and why is she famous? Leona Lewis was the first woman to win on Simon Cowell’s The X Factor, the UK version of American Idol. She is a British hit, with Leona’s debut single, “A Moment Like This,” braking records with a record 50,000 downloads in 30 minutes. The single stayed in the No. 1 position for four weeks on the UK Singles Chart.

Listening to two of her songs, I was hoping for some really great stuff. And I was really disappointed. The songs did not hold anything new or exciting, and did not jump out at me. When I found out about her The X Factor wins, I just figured she like her American Idol counterparts might be able to win the show, but don’t make it with staying power in the real world. Bleeding Love has an okay beat, and the video is interesting to her UK fans being set in the far off New York City. As a US video, it is clearly an attempt to sell her as someone here in America. Cute stunt, but that would be like saying bathing suits don’t look good on Miami’s South Beach.

The song is definitely a pop song. It just does not pop.

Leona Lewis refuses to wear leather because she is a vegetarian. Maybe seeing her in a tight leather skirt would have made the video more interesting and compelled me to considering buying her album.

Now excuse me while I put on my leather gloves because there is over a foot of snow outside my window in Milwaukee, WI today.

Great website - she has a good person doing PR. She just needs better music.
