SUN acquires MySQL OH NO!!

With the acquisiton of MySQL by SUN, for a huge amount of money, I have to wonder what db I will be using for my future web efforts. Obviously for MySQL it is a check they would never turn down. For SUN, it gives them the ability to say look how much our Internet share is. Of course it would be a marketing ploy. From a db prospective, I cannot imagine there is any technology advantage. I mean after all, isn’t sun, SUN. The outfit its fan boys have raved about for over a decade as being awesome, great and all around super duper?

For SUN, this acquisition just adds more to their existing area - a database. hy not port what they have to lower end systems? Because the products cost structure and complexity does not allow it, and when they have tried in the pat, it has not been taken positive. You cannot preech being the biggest and strongest for running the planet and be available for home use and small business. I say good deal for MySQL, and if I can, goodbye. I have no desire to be running SunSQL.

MySQL has 400 employees - how many of them will get $2,000,000 each in an open source bonus? :)
