Mealey’s Furniture 2008 review

This is an easy review to wite about the Mealey’s Furniture stores in their 3 locations in Moorestown, NJ, Bensalem, PA and Oxford Valley, PA. Do not go to these stores. Why? The send out junk mail, in bulk printed on glossy mutli color flyers advertising this weekends sale. No mailing lists to unsubscribe from, just a huge bulk mailing campagin to flood the entire Philadelphia Delaware Valley with ads to save $100 on furniture this weekend only.

The deals are not that great, nothing to run out and get. The ads, printed on two glossy sheets of paper - single sided - are the typical jam packed with noise about all the deals and mattress savings. Furniture stores really are on par with car dealerships, but I cannot recall the last time I got a slick from a car dealership. Radio and TV ads aplenty. Newspaper ads, especially in the auto section. But the junk the marketing folks at Mealer’s dumped this week on the entire tri-state area is a huge environmental waste. Let them know this is the reason why furniture stores come and go every weekend - bad business practices and lame advertising stunts.

And before the pundits cry just throw it in the trash like everyone else, ask yourself if you like paying for the disposal of the thousands of these junk mail flyers every day in your municipal waste fees on your tax bill? Just like the phone book, the vendors do not give a crap. They throw it out and figure you will just throw it away. They don’t pay for the disposal, so why bother. Local municipalities should be able to levy fees on Resident bulk mail campaigns in their communities to recover waste fees. it will not be much, even if just a $0.01 a piece. Or the $5.00 tax on phone books. The day the phone book is only delivered when you order it needs to happen soon, but should have happened years ago. And no, we have never been to a Mealey’s, in person or online. They are just dumping junk mail everywhere.
