Buca Di Beppo review
It isn’t easy to do a review on a restaurant we have been going to for 9 years, ever since Barbara Decker took me and the team out to the one in Seattle, WA for a team dinner. We have had several parties at the Cherry Hill, NJ location from 10 to 20+ people, and been here at least once every 3 or 4 months with a group of 5 to 8 for years. We really like the place, love the food, and enjoy the atmosphere.
This past Saturday we where here again, this time as guests of another party. The diaper bag got left under the table, so we called, then drove over to pick it up. Anna mentioned how much she loved the shrimp and scallops with orzo pasta, especially now as a gastric bypass meal. So to suprise her, when I went in to get the bag, I left her playing on the cell phone surfing the web and playing Bubble Break, and ordered her favorite. This is the note I sent Customer Service about my visit -
We had a party in Cherry Hill, NJ (again - great place for parties) and left a bag, Came back to get the bag, bought a $100 gift card and ordered a small Shrimp and Orzo Pasta. Had a great chat with the chef while it was cooking. She was a very nice person, pleasant to chat with, and was happy to talk about special orders she has done. Given my families gastric bypass (2 plus we came here one day for a support group party) and diabetics, she was a perfect spokesperson for your restaurants.
Here is where the ladies at the hostess stand dropped the ball - someone put the food in a take out bag and I was the only one there. After a few minutes I asked if she had any plastic silverware. She said yes, got some from behind the take out counter, went into the kitchen, put it in the bag, and handed me my order. When we got home, we found out that it was shrimp and scallops in paste and very spicy. Apparently it was the Shrimp Fra Diavolo. Not a good meal at all since my wife has had gastric bypass surgery and spicy is out, and the scallops and orzo are great things for her to eat.
Anyway, this in all our years was our only bad comment on any Buca restaurant from Seattle to New Jersey.
And I left my name, email address, mailing address and phone number.
If I hear anything, I will be sure to let you know. But we will be back. The gift card was a stocking stuffer for Anna and she now has 2 of the $25 bonus cards, which can only be used once per visit from January 1st to March 31st, 2008.
