outdoor chirstmas decorations are up
With the ton of holiday decorations, we really do not have anything for the outside. We have done swag lights - they look great till a wind blows then they look horrible. We have done swag lights with ribbons to wieght them down on the droops. The ribbon gets tangled and they look horrible when the wind blows. We have done lights on gutters with clips. Of course that always finds me cleaning the gutters at the same time, so some part of me must not like those type of lights.
Today we went into Target for a gift for one boy for one party today. We came out with $300 worth of stuff in our cart, including:
A 6.5 foot (6 1/2 foot) white tree with lights that alternatate between white, colored and flashing and blinking, and a set of 4 christmas presents, all of which is in front of the kitchen window
A set of 5 giant light bulbs that look like the old style christmas tree lights, in front of the dining room window, and going down the walkway, 3 2 foot tall little christmas trees or bushes, also pre-lit. To fill out the dining room bay window side, Anna brought out 3 sets of colored light strings that I placed on the 3 bushes in front of the rhododendrons
Power for this starts on the side of the garage with a photo timer set to come on when it gets dark and stay on for 8 hours. From there I have an external 3 way outlet, which leaves 2 plugs for the side flower bed if Anna snuggles up to me all lovly dovey and asks me to go get more stuff. From there an outside heavy duty yellow extension cord goes to the kitchen bay window and connects to another exterior 3 way plug. One plug is for the tree, the other for the presents, leaving room for more stuff by doubling up. The third plug is another exterior extension cord going across the steps and under the mat and holiday greeting mat, and into the dining room bay window flower bed. There I have a 3 way exterior box which stakes into the ground and has a cover. Plugged into here is the giant bulbs, behind which is the 3 strands of lights, the one soldier, and the 3 2′ trees.
Anna can certaintly not say she doesn’t have anything outside, and she has plenty of room and electric outlets and capacity to add more stuff now or later. Hopefully she will take some pictures and post them to the gallery and her blog.
