How do you spell BMW?
I took Anna to the local BMW dealership this afternoon - DeSimone BMW, a Holman Enterprise on Rt 73 in Mt Laurel. We are looking for a car for our oldest. Now every 16 year old going on 17 needs a convertable BMW, and I want mine 12 years later with interest in free date nights with hot chicks. But the later is not going to happen. And I do not know about the former. Anna kind of really like the cars but also did not. She has some problems with the VM New Beetle convertable. The soft top some people warn her can make it easier to steal the car or just break into it to take stuff or to damage. The car is so small it is unsafe. Of course she spends most of her time driving around in the Navigator.
She liked the 3 series hard top convertable, but not that when it was down it sucked up all the trunk. I did not like the Hello I have the worlds smallest penis cars - I think they are called X4 or X5 something. If you own one of those cars, I am sure your partner loves you anyway for your cuddle skills.
We did ask the salesperson Rick to go find us a girl car salesperson. he was just not able to speak with Anna. The girl who did help us was friendly, informative, and had a nice chat with Anna. It was very helpful. If we decide on a BMW, we would definitely go back and look for her to nickle and dime her down to the cheapest price, but still give her the sale for her personality.
So who is this car for? Good question. I figure Anna would drive it back and forth and around town until Brighid was old enough, and then she would use it as a partial car back and forth to school and taking errands. Anna still needs to get the two little ones around and do her stay at home mom stuff during the day and her girl / woman errands for own her benefit. I am not buying a brand new 3rd car, or I might. That depends on the car. But I would hope it could be driven by my wife for a while then Brighid drives it for a bit, then if she goes away to college, and can have a car with her, she would take it. But then again, a car at college is a big distraction from studies, so I might not want her to take it for a few months or her first semester or first year.
Dad pays for college, Dad sets the rules. She can always pay her own way and get her own car. At that point she is an adult. I just hope we instill in her enough common sense to know you do not buy new cars or lease them every 3 years. You keep them until forever and then fix them to keep them even longer. A car is only a tool, and tools are not meant to be flashy pieces of money sinks, but functional. They can still be fun and sporty looking and have nice leather seats. but you do not have to go overboard to try and impress people with a car. I am more impressed by someone who owns a car then someone with a brand new car. And very few people actually own their cars, which is just bad financial sense.
