EVE - Why I don’t buy insurance

RefID:1032914740 Your friendly insurance company has transferred 15,200,000.00 ISK into your account for the recent loss of your ship. This payout is the default payout for an uninsured ship. If you are interested in better insurance then please visit a station with an Insurance Service for further details.
Now if I buy insurance on this Caldari Drake Battlecruiser, I have the following options -
Policy_______Premium____Payout
Basic_____01,900,000__19,000,000 Pay them 1.9 and get back 3.8M ISK, 2x the premium payment
Standard__03,800,000__22,800,000
Bronze____05,700,000__26,600,000
Silver_____07,600,000__32,000,000
Gold______09,500,000__34,200,000
Platinum__11,400,000__38,000,000 So for 11,400,000, I would get back 22,800,000 or again double of what I pay in premiums
So at this point, if you now you are going to lose your ship, buying Platinum if the best policy as it gives you the largest return on a straight 2x bet. It doesn”t cover the ship, modules or the time to rebuild. It’s the same uninsured premium PLUS 2x the premium paid. If you don”t mind throwing some cash into the lottery system, and now you will die sooner or later, then go for it. Insurance in EVE Isn”t insurance, it’s just a gamble on when you will lose your ship.
