Seattle’s Best Coffee - 2nd time is not the charm

Posted by Jim on August 19, 2007

We went to Border’s to get a game for the little one’s and our middle daughter a reader or two. And for me to give Seattle’s Best Coffee a second try.

I ordered a latte with skim milk and extra sugar free vanilla syrup for my wife.
I then told the girl I had ordered a frappachino equivilant the other day at didn’t like it. Did they have a different drink or way to make it? She said they follow the recipe they have. DING here. If I walked into a Starbucks and said that, unless swamped, they would offer to replace the drink with another, or suggest a different drink.
I ordered a lattle with skim milk and the sugar-free rasberry syrup. I figured our oldest and I could try it. I wasn’t about to buy another frappachino and gamble on it, especially with the lack of customer love.

So 2 drinks, and I get a box of covered espresso beans, pay the bill and wait. While waiting, I check the recipt to make sure it says the skim milk and extra syrup for my wife and count three drinks and the beans. I asked the girl at the counter about it, and without stopping from her work tells me “Oh yeah, I wondered why the bill was so high” A second person behind the counter comes over and looks at the receipt also. Neither jump onto the register, so I just tell them to give me the third drink. I figure our oldest can have her own anyway.

Three drinks in hand, I go to the others. We all tried them, and no one liked them. The sugar-free vanilla, even with extra pumps was to weak and the coffee strong. The sugar-free rasberry and the third drink where to much on the bitter side rather then flavored. I drank mine, but it ended up being more like a cup of coffee with a bite of bitter rasberry flavor then a latte, let alone a flavored latte.

I told our oldest to go back down, she could get her’s redone, but she didn’t want to feel embarassed. Since my brining up the previous bad drink didn’t go far, I threw this feedback on the company web site. I know how this would have been handled at Starbuck’s or Mo’s chino. Let’s see how Seattle’s Best Coffee responds.
