LeadAmerica is a total scam and a ripoff

LeadAmerica is a total scam and a ripoff. At its core, LeadAmerica buys names from mailing lists. No teachers nominate students. First off, to disclose to any outside organization a students name, grade level, academic record and home address would be a breach of confidential information. This would get the teacher fired and the school sued. Teachers and administrators do not do this. They might stick the flier in the office and let the students, academic advisors and guidance counselors talk about it. but they do not nominate students. That is lie #1 about LeadAmerica.
Lie #2 - it has academic value. No, it does not. It is a way for mommy and daddy to send you away for 2 weeks, to put something on your college application. Thats it. You get no homeowrk, college credit you will use, or acceleration back at school the next September.
I have spoken to the organizations that administer the SAT and PSAT. They have LeadAmerica under review and are trying to change their program policies o these organizations no longer get your kids names.
If you are a parent, throw the junk mial in the trash.
If you are a student, learn early on, do not be fooled by the bunk and hype
If you are a school, you already know all these because you gte bombarded with their junk and all the other scum bag organizations like them all the time.
if you are a newspaper covering a story about little M ary or little Ted doing a fundraiser to get away for 2 weeks to a LeadAmerica event, focus on the harsh reality of the programs lack of merits and value. And on how parents get bombarded constantly to give up college savings today for garbage programs rather then a real edeucation in a few years.
Every parent wants the best for their kids, and that is the hook that LeadAmerica latches on to and tugs at your hearts as a way into your wallets.
LeadAmerica - scum bags who need to be stopped
