Chicago trip

Work called yesterday telling me I needed yto fly out to Chicago next week. Great. But by the time the call was over, it turned into a conference call rather then a flight out.

Hilton sent me a note yesterday also - apparently they want me to go to Chicago or anywhere else - or risk loosing my points due to inactivity. Even on the busiest travel years I still try and stay at Marriott to concentrate stays and points. But with Anna’s Disney Vacation Club purchase last year and again this year, it has eliminate vacation travel points / stays.

Even with airlines, my travel has usually been with AmericaWest, now USAirways. Before that it was Delta till they change the upgrade rules. In prior years the local agents could bump people into first on both segments. Which for a person like myself who actually talks to the people at the airport socially, it was a great thing. But to get a first into Atlanta then have to find a red jacket in that sprawl to get a comp was not worth it. Then AmericaWest and still now as USAirways, the upgrade and points for travel program has been great.I have even used it for gaming convention travel.

That brings us to Southwest - I flew them for the first time a few weeks ago, and found the planes to be perfectly fine. Anna and Brighid have flown a few times with them including last week with no complaints. What comedians and whiners cry about is no seat assignments, just boarding area A, B or C. With a ding fare from PHL to MCO last week fo $49 who needs assigned seats?
