I bought this printer on 2/1/2005 from my local CompUSA. I picked up the EPSON R800 printer, cartridges and paper for $520.92. Since then I have picked up a lot of ink for this puppy, and it has always delivered some really nice pictures. It died, or rather the USB port died. A few times, connecting the USB cable, or turning this printer on, would cause the computer is was attached to reboot. Not a good sign. Now it just does not respond.

I have not found any of my firewire cables, so I switched it to my laptop then Anna’s computer. Nothing.

This morning I called EPSON tech support. Warranty is 12 months only. DOH!

They offered to help me troubleshoot for $9.95, but I said no thanks, it is dead on a USB port, so not much to troubleshoot.

EPSON gave me 2 suggestions. Get a new R800 from thier customer loyalty program for $300 with free ground shipping. The second was to call the local EPSON repair facility - Agson 2091 Springdale Rd Suite 15 Cherry Hill, NJ 856-751-9048

I spoke to Paul at Agson, he is going to look up if the USB connector is on a riser or the main board, and give me a ballpark price. I hate to throw away stuff, let alone stuff that is working fine. In the mean time, let me see if I come across a firewire cable.
