Foxtons - shady, scumbags, or gasp semi-legit?

Foxtons, if you have been bombarded by these people know of their garbage junk letters.

<In pen> Dear Mr & Mrs last name,
<text form letter>We have been asked by a very genuine buyer to look for a property in your town. She has just missed out on buying a property similar to yours and is eager to purchase a home soon. Can you possibly help?

  • very genuine - you have to tell me this so I will believe its not a fraud or a gimmick
  • She - because everyone wants to help a woman. And since it is she, she is single. Possibly a single mom struggling after losing her husband in Iraq, or at the WTC on 9/11
  • in your town - so we thought let’s send a blind mailing to every home in my town of 3000 houses
  • Can you possibly help? - a personal appeal

Your neighborhood is of particular interest to her because she has just taken a job nearby and would like to live near her office.

  • her office - then she must be successful and has the income to qualify for a mortgage, and the cash for a down payment, AND she wants to settle right away

If you would like to discuss the possibility of selling your home, I would be very interested to hear from you, either on my cell phone at 732-623-0000 or directly in my office at 866-347-8846.

Thank you for taking the time to consider this request.

Yours sincerely,

P.S. I would be pleased, of course, to advise you on the best price to ask, and just in case you didn’t already know, Foxtons only charges 3% commission - that’s the lowest rate in the tri-state area for full service.

  • And at the bottom, there has to be a * on every non junk mail, legitimate offer not from a scum bag organization

*If your home is currently listed with another real estate broker, please do not consider this a solicitation to list your home. In New Jersey all commissions are negotiable.

  • But but but, How? You send this non form letter to me, all hand written. Well the first line was, and by you, the guy Michael, not a girl with a girl’s handwriting. You would know if my house was for sale.
  • And BTW, when you call, Foxton’s will be glad to give you your name and address from caller ID. He offered to said a local agent to my house and rattled off my address right away. What? You mean you have the buyer in my area, and you won’t come down? I feel so like this might not have been a very genuine offer. I mean it looks like scumbag mail, it smells like fraudulent advertising, it makes your organization look disreputable.
  • But the bets part was to have him tell me he has never sent out a letter like this before.

I reminded him we get one from this company every month or two. The extact same bull shit form letter.
  • Need to buy or sell a home in New Jersey or the tri-state area - do not do business with Foxtons. Hold them to the fire for this shady garbage mailings.
  • Mark the calendar Michael. Web search doesn’t find you or your company or number well…yet. but it will in a few days. Let’s hope this stops at least 1 individual from doing business with you and your shady practices.
