The Cover of the Rolling Stone
This great rock / pop tune of the early 1970 is not only the first song I can remember singing, it is also the song the I sang and danced with Brighid for hours one night in our kitchen.
So vivid can I picture dancing with her, CD player going over and over for hours, her Mom only making her stop so I could get a drink and wipe my forehead. The tile floor, big and open, the fireplace where we burned through a full cord of wood our first Christmas in Florida, and the dining room table which became the assembly station for the huge doll house that had walls and floors then never finished any more.
I can even get the date pretty close while sitting here in 11F on US Airways Flight 112 from Philadelphia to Seattle, halfway into the flight thousands of feet in the air.
1991 born, she moved to Florida on her 2nd birthday, August 1993. We had thanksgiving dinner in our own house, drove back to NJ and pick up all the furniture we left when we moved at my Dad’s. So my little dance partner would have been heading towards the age of 3 and it was in 1994.
And my wife wonders why she has one of these PPC phones and gets told to blog stuff about the kids so we will have it for later.
We moved into our first house in Florida after staying at my parents till they made a visit, 100% unannounced. And upon her arrival proceeded to bitch about how Anna kept the place and that she would be moving back soon. We can start looking for a place, which of course in her true bitch fashion said “Why did you move to your own house, we have all that room?”
So she stayed for all of a few days. Anna put up with her crap and complaints. The day they left Anna and I went and made a deposit. What is small world coincidence is that the house we did not pick was next door to a guy I would become friends with in January of 1994 when we sat next to each other at the Crummer School of Business at Rollins College.
Why can’t we be friends is playing right now in my headphones. What a truly small world we can live in.
We will be on the ground in 1H15m our tour guide I mean captain just informed us. Well this rambling thread has come to its end so I’ll end it here and ramble again later.
