Honeymoon v2006

I booked a weekend night away for my wife and I at the hotel where we spent our honeymoon. Last weekend we dumped the kids with her sister and headed out. A nice drive to the hotel included seeing Arlington National Cemetery, the Washington Monument and the Pentagon.

We arrived, handed the valet the keys to the Lincoln. This time it was green and a Navigator. Last time it was a red Continental.

We checked in. This time the lobby was busy. Last time it was almost midnight and we were the only ones in the lobby

We hit the elevators. This time we had to wait, and got on the 2nd elevator, stuffed in with a lady and her two little boys dressed for a gala evening in formal attire and 2 other people. Last time is was the two of us, exhausted and 1 bellhop.

A suite. Same as last time, a great room, magnificent view of the Washington DC skyline.

A little bit later room service arrived. Last time it was a bellhop saying everything was closed, her is some cheese and crackers he was able to find in the kitchens. He got tipped well for the trouble. This time is was a tray of chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne on ice.

We ordered room service dinner, had an excellent meal. Last time we remembered to look in the back seat because the caterer was going to put together a food tray for us for the drive to the hotel. But we never took it. So we skipped the fast food joints because we figured the hotel would have something at any hour. This time wa much better on the food.

The next morning, we repeated our honeymoon breakfast of steak and eggs, orange juice, coke for me, tea for her.

I would recommend the Marriott full service properties for any occasion. But especially when you contact the hotel for their honeymoon / lovers getaway packages.

But the best part was the time together with my wife to celebrate our anniversary, recharge, and just look at how beautiful she is and how much I love her.
