Welcome to the current year

This piece ran on the Washington Post on 11/4/2005 Spammers Flock To Blogs. Here the Washington Post reported that now that blogs are a popular online pastime for millions of people, scammers are finding new ways to exploit them as vehicles for junk advertisements. This has been going on for over a year. Blogs just seem to be good news lines today, so now a piece like this gets picked up by the Washington Post.

Google, and the other major search engines have already put controls to spot adding link backs in blog comments and started to deal with these spam assholes and their games months ago. We have been talking about it for almost 2 years ourselves. It became huge during last summer, as in 2004 not 2005, with all the bogus comments to blogs from casino bots.

So the news here is just how out of sync the Washington Post is with the real world. Or is that news to anyone?
