What is a blog?

Well to begin with, we have to come to an understanding that no definition, no matter how planned out and thorough in its details, can fully capture the essence of a word it is trying to define.
So, a blog is an electronic piece of paper. It allows the creator to jot down notes, facts, appointments - anything they would put into a small notebook for later use.
A wheel log - in the US Navy, a small notebook carried in the short button down pocket fo notes, instructions and information.
So, is my blog a wheel log? It has some stuff I want to put down to remember for later. It has jokes I put down to share with others later. So, I would say my blog turns into an electronic replacement for my old wheel log. I picked up my first stack of wheel logs at servmart in Newport, RI. Came back to the ship, handed them out, and was the pope of chili town for 5 minutes.
So if you want an electronic version of the wheel log, just drop me a PM on the forums or an email, and I will get you set up. And it won’t require me to drive down to servmart.
So, did I define a blog? No. Not even close. But it is fun to enter into the dialog of what things are, what makes them be, who uses them, and how, and our relations to them from our past. And by this post, which has some facts, some rambling, and something useful, I give you a working definition of a blog.
A working defintion - long winded word for an example. Examples are great things when we realize that they do not capture everything of an object, and are as everything else - everything is relative (c) Jerry Reminicki, 1980. So we continue to read on as I ramble, try to make a point, go off into some unknwon direction, then back onto tracj.
And that is a blog.
