Gaming Communities
So you pick up a game in the store, decide to give it a go. Go home load it up, play, hit a bump, and want help. Hit a fun spot and want to tell others. Want to find out where to go next. Whatever the reason, you hit the Internet. Your options are local guild sites, some original content, some lifted content, links to other stuff, and local chat. The Middle ground communities - multiple guilds, mutilple games, original content, some services, such as teamspeak. Then you hit the large corporate owned sites - ads galore, bombardment for signup and pay $39.99 a year to fund our corporate masters.
So why an individual would go to the large corporate ad driven sites, I would love to know.
The content? Its usually the same, sometimes better, some times worst. But your in a community that is driven by revenue
Of course its the argument of watching ABC or CBS instead of PBS. But I dont volunteer at CBS, I do volunteer at PBS fund raisers. And thats where the question of why comes into play.
Well maybe we have a marketing expert in the group, or a social economist.
